INEC Adds SDP Candidate To Osun Governorship Ballot
INEC has added the Social Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Francis Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, to the ballot for the Osun State governorship election.
The commission said it made the change after a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja ordered it to recognise and publish Ajala’s name as the SDP candidate. The election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
INEC National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna said ballot papers and result sheets were being reproduced to reflect the change. Vanguard reported that the addition brings the number of parties contesting the election to 15.
The commission said the new ballot papers would arrive in Osun on Thursday, August 13, and move the same day to local government offices under its normal election-material distribution process.
The late ballot change comes as INEC and security agencies prepare for a closely watched governorship election in the state.
