Katsina United Rejects Claims That Chinedu Ozor Survived Collapse
Katsina United have rejected reports that defender Chinedu Ozor regained consciousness after he collapsed during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes in Katsina.
The club said Ozor died after the incident at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium and asked the public to stop circulating claims that he came back to life. The statement followed confusion after reports said signs of movement were seen before his body was taken to the mortuary.
NaijaTrend had earlier reported his death here. The latest clarification keeps the focus on the club’s position: Ozor did not regain consciousness after the collapse.
Daily Post and Vanguard reported the club’s denial, while Daily Trust reported the confusion that followed the initial announcement. Vanguard quoted the club as saying his family had asked for further medical confirmation in the shock that followed the incident, but that the moment should not be turned into a claim that he survived.
The club also appealed for privacy for Ozor’s family, teammates and friends as they mourn the player.
