Police Arrest Osun Commissioner Over APC Rally Gunshots
Police in Osun State have arrested the Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Anjorin, after gunshots were reported around an APC rally in Ilesa.
The command also arrested another person identified as Odeyemi Abimbola. Police said the incident happened during a political procession and involved suspected armed men who allegedly fired shots after alighting from a vehicle.
Daily Post reported that the Osun State Police Command confirmed the arrests through its spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi. The report said the case was tied to alleged election campaign violence in Ilesa.
Vanguard also reported the arrest and said four people were injured in the incident. It said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign team described the arrest as an attempt to silence Accord leaders in the state.
The allegations remain under police investigation. The verified reports did not include a court finding against the commissioner or the second person arrested.
