Tinubu Approves Up To 80% Pay Rise For Nigerian Soldiers

Nigerian soldiers are set for a pay increase after President Bola Tinubu approved a revised salary structure for the armed forces, with the largest rises going to junior personnel.

The adjustment ranges from 30% to 80%, according to the reports. Punch said the pay rise covers about 250,000 troops, while Premium Times said junior soldiers, who form a large part of the frontline force, received the biggest percentage increases.

The approval was presented as part of a wider attempt to improve welfare and morale in the military. Vanguard reported that former Senate President Ahmad Lawan welcomed the decision and said better pay could help troops facing security operations across the country.
