Army Rescues Federal Polytechnic Rector, Foils Kidnap Attempts In Zamfara
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Dr Aminu Yusuf, and foiled separate kidnap attempts in Zamfara State.
Punch reported the development from a military statement issued on X by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
According to the report, troops responded to a distress call around Tsohon-Tasha Street in Kaura Namoda in the early hours of July 28 after attackers invaded the rector’s residence.
Danja said the attackers killed the rector’s private security guard and injured another resident before attempting to abduct Yusuf and members of his family. He said troops arrived, engaged the attackers and rescued the rector and his family unharmed.
The statement also said troops responded to attempted abductions in Tungan Dorawa community in Barkeji village and forced attackers to flee. Punch reported that Alhaji Azaria and 21 other civilians abducted from nearby communities were also rescued during the operations.
