Ogun Police Arrest Two Over Cattle Theft, Foil Abduction Attempt

Police in Ogun State have arrested two suspected cattle thieves, recovered six stolen cows and stopped a suspected abduction attempt in separate operations.

The command said operatives of the Sagamu Division arrested Abiodun Kamilu, 35, and Adesanya Segun, 37, after a distress call reported that seven cows had been stolen from a cattle yard in the Maskoli area of Sagamu.

Officers were said to have moved to identified exit routes and intercepted suspicious vehicles along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway. Police said six of the seven stolen cows were recovered, while a blue Nissan Cabster bus believed to have been used for the operation was seized.

The command said it was still working to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover the remaining cow.

In a separate operation, police said a Safer Highway Patrol team foiled a suspected abduction attempt at Onigaari along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday after officers heard gunshots during patrol. The suspects fled into nearby bush, according to the command.
