Families are seeking the rescue of nine corps members and a driver reportedly abducted on the Ijebu-Ode–Ibadan road in Ogun State on Tuesday evening.

Abigeal, the sister of one of the travellers, told Vanguard that the family learnt of the attack after a passenger escaped and contacted a relative.

She said the abductors demanded N20 million in a call on Wednesday, then raised the sum to N25 million and gave the families until Thursday to pay.

Her brother had completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Edo State the previous week and was returning to Ibadan, she said.

Abigeal said the family visited the Ijebu-Ode Police Station on Wednesday and was told officers and local vigilantes were searching the forest. She said police later handed over her brother’s luggage after the vehicle was recovered.

The family appealed for government and security-agency intervention. The reports did not contain a direct police or NYSC statement confirming the travellers’ whereabouts or a rescue.
