Atiku Lobbyist Sends Tinubu US Forfeiture Records To Trump Officials, Congress
A lobbying firm hired by Atiku Abubakar has said it has begun sending records on President Bola Tinubu’s past United States forfeiture case to members of the Trump administration, Congress and senior congressional staff.
Daily Trust reported that Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., a Washington-based firm engaged by Atiku under a 12-month lobbying contract, said it had started sharing more than 60 pages of Department of Justice documents and related court materials.
The firm said in a post on X that many within the US government were previously unaware of the records and that it wanted the documents brought to official attention. Daily Trust said the firm referred to DOJ filings, a supporting affidavit and related federal court decisions.
Daily Post reported a separate claim by Paul Ibe, an aide to Atiku, that US President Donald Trump had been made aware of the documents. Ibe did not provide evidence of any action by Trump or state what response, if any, followed the alleged briefing.
The story is politically sensitive because the records concern allegations and a forfeiture case that Tinubu has repeatedly faced in Nigerian political debate. The two reports did not show a new US government finding against the president.
