Ogun State APC governorship candidate Solomon Adeola and former senator Iyabo Obasanjo have exchanged accusations over her exit from the party and claims linked to campaign expenses.

Adeola, widely known as Yayi, said Obasanjo claimed she left the APC for the PDP because he failed to refund money she spent during her governorship bid. He described the alleged demand as insulting and said it showed a wrong motive for seeking office.

The senator made the comments through his media adviser, Kayode Odunaro, after a meeting with market leaders from Remoland at his senatorial office in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.

Obasanjo rejected the allegation. She said she did not personally demand reimbursement and accused Adeola of lacking integrity. Vanguard reported that she said only stakeholders who supported her campaign made requests after she stepped down.

The exchange adds another layer to Ogun’s 2027 governorship contest, with Obasanjo now in the PDP and listed as the party’s Ogun Central senatorial candidate.
