Shettima Leaves Abuja For ECOWAS Summit In Freetown

Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he is representing President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The summit is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre. It brings together leaders, ministers, senior officials and regional institutions from across West Africa.
The meeting is expected to focus on regional security, democratic governance, trade, infrastructure, economic integration and sustainable development.
Daily Trust reported that the trip was announced by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President. Vanguard reported that Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after his engagements in Sierra Leone.
