INEC Extends 2027 Presidential, NASS Candidate Deadline To July 14
INEC has given political parties three more days to submit candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The new deadline is midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The earlier deadline expired on Saturday, July 11.
The extension followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council on behalf of parties that said they had trouble uploading candidates’ names and personal details on the nomination portal.
INEC said the change applies to the presidential and National Assembly candidate lists under its revised timetable for the 2027 general election.
Political parties were asked to use the extra window to complete their submissions, as the commission said it would not keep the portal open indefinitely.
