Peter Obi Says He May Not Be Alive To Contest In 2027

Peter Obi has said he may not be alive to contest the 2027 presidential election, linking the warning to what he described as growing pressure on opposition figures and frustration of his personal activities.

Obi made the claim in an interview with Chude Jideonwo. The former Anambra governor said he was not making a formal direct accusation, but argued that he could see signs of official obstruction in routine parts of his life.

Asked whether there was a chance he might not be a candidate in 2027, Obi replied that he might not even be alive. He said every part of his livelihood was being frustrated and alleged that opposition figures were being targeted personally.

He cited an airport incident in which officials allegedly locked his vehicle while other vehicles in the same area were left alone. He also said some people now ask him not to attend family events because they fear possible consequences.

The comments add a sharper personal safety angle to the already heated 2027 political race. They also come after several recent attacks and counter-attacks involving Obi, the ruling party and other political figures.
