Lagos Fire Service Opens Probe Into Apapa Tank Farm Fire

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has opened an investigation into the fire that hit the Bono Energy Terminal in Apapa, a day after emergency teams brought the incident under control with no casualty recorded.

Daily Post and Punch reported that the fire involved a five-million-litre Automotive Gas Oil storage tank at the Ibru Jetty Complex, near Coconut Bus Stop in Olodi Apapa. Firefighters from Ajegunle, Sari Iganmu and Isolo stations were deployed after the alert and arrived shortly after noon.

Margaret Adeseye, head of the state fire service, said the blaze was contained and fully extinguished by 1:54 p.m., preventing spread to nearby tanks and critical infrastructure. Daily Trust separately reported that the agency said the cause had not yet been determined.
