Tinubu Unveils New ECOWAS Headquarters In Abuja
President Bola Tinubu has opened the new headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States in Abuja, describing the building as a fresh call to regional integration and shared prosperity.
The complex was built with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China. Tinubu thanked China, the ECOWAS Commission, Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Company Limited, consultants and Nigerian partners involved in the project.
Speaking at the commissioning on Thursday, Tinubu said West Africa must move from being only a regional market to becoming a stronger production base. He said decisions taken in the new complex should advance peace, unity and dignity for the people of the region.
President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, who chairs the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, also attended the event and described the project as important to the bloc’s institutional future.
