Atiku Says Tinubu Government Held Hostage By Fraudsters Over PFIPC Row

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of being “held hostage by fraudsters” over the controversy around the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC.

Atiku said the Presidency’s response to allegations involving the council and its acclaimed director general, Adeniyi Adeyemi, had become self-indicting rather than reassuring.

He argued that the matter raised questions for the Presidency, the National Assembly and the Central Bank of Nigeria, especially after reports that money was appropriated for PFIPC despite official claims about the body’s status.

Vanguard reported Atiku as saying the scandal had exposed people operating from within the administration’s power circles. Daily Post also reported that he described the damage-control effort as an indictment of the institutions involved.

The Presidency had earlier denied wrongdoing by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila in the controversy.
