Tinubu Commends Wike As FCT Commissions Gaduwa Road Project
President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as the FCT Administration commissioned the full scope development of Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Gaduwa District, Abuja.
The project covers Important Local Streets 16, 18 and 19 and is part of the administration’s ongoing infrastructure rollout across the territory.
Tinubu was represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, while Wike said the commissioning was the 16th project in a 31-day inauguration programme marking President Tinubu’s third year in office.
Daily Post reported that Tinubu said all districts in the FCT are now feeling the effect of completed projects that improve residents’ quality of life. Vanguard reported that he praised Wike for changing the culture of infrastructure delivery in the territory.
The President said residents of Gaduwa had lived for years without a motorable road to reach their homes, especially during the rainy season. He said the completed street would improve mobility, reduce travel time, raise property values and provide safer access.
The FCT minister also warned the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Maikalangu, against naming roads constructed by the Federal Government without approval. Vanguard reported that Wike said permission must be obtained when federal funds are used to build roads within the city.
Daily Post reported that Wike credited the rapid execution of projects to cooperation between the executive and the National Assembly, which he said helped with budget approvals and releases.
The Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, said the project reflected the administration’s infrastructure agenda and thanked the stakeholders involved in the commissioning.
