Petition Seeks Probe Of Matawalle’s 2018 NECO Certificate
A petition has been filed with the Inspector General of Police seeking a probe of the 2018 NECO Senior Secondary Certificate Examination result submitted to INEC by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
Vanguard reported that the petitioner, Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a former national secretary of APGA and executive director of Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, questioned how a former member of the House of Representatives could have sat for a school-based internal examination.
Shinkafi said Matawalle submitted the June 2018 NECO SSCE Internal result with his governorship nomination form for the 2023 election, which he won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 before defecting to the APC.
The petition also questioned a May 1985 Vocational Training Centre result from Bunza in Sokoto State, citing a December 2018 letter from the Federal Ministry of Education which said the result could not be evaluated as equivalent to a Senior School Certificate.
Shinkafi urged the IG to investigate whether the documents meet the constitutional requirements for the offices Matawalle has occupied.
