INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Oyebanji, By-Election Winners
The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented certificates of return to Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State and winners of the recent senatorial by-elections.
Vanguard reported that Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, received their certificates at a ceremony in Abuja following the June 20 governorship election.
INEC National Commissioner Sam Olumekun presented the certificates. Oyebanji, who ran on the APC platform, won with 319,224 votes, defeating PDP’s Wole Oluyede, who polled 40,543, and ADC’s Dare Bejide with 12,872 votes.
Premium Times reported that the ADC candidate had rejected the election outcome, alleging vote-buying and irregularities.
The commission also presented certificates to winners of by-elections held across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.
Oyebanji’s inauguration for his second term is scheduled for October 16, 2026.
