Okowa Visits EFCC Lagos Office As Derivation Funds Probe Continues
Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was seen at the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday as investigators continued a probe into alleged diversion of derivation funds.
Premium Times, citing the News Agency of Nigeria, reported that Okowa was at the EFCC’s Lagos Directorate 1 office on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi.
Daily Post also reported that the former governor was spotted at the Lagos EFCC office, with a senior source linking the visit to the ongoing fraud probe.
The investigation concerns funds accruing to Delta State from the 13 per cent derivation allocation from the Federation Account during Okowa’s tenure as governor from 2015 to 2023.
Okowa was previously questioned by the EFCC in November 2024 at the commission’s Port Harcourt Directorate over allegations linked to the management of the oil-producing state’s derivation funds.
No charge or arraignment was reported in the latest visit. The verified development is that he was seen at the EFCC office while the probe continues.
