Three Former Osun Lawmakers Dump APC, Cite Lack of Internal Democracy

Three former members of the Osun State House of Assembly have resigned their membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing a lack of internal democracy within the party.

The lawmakers — Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare, and Folorunso Oladoyin — resigned between June 1 and 2, according to reports.

Aleem Bakare, who represented the Ede North State Constituency, explicitly cited the lack of internal democracy as his reason for leaving the party.

The other two lawmakers did not state specific reasons for their resignation from the ruling party.

The three former lawmakers are believed to be linked to the camp of Senator Iyiola Omisore, a prominent political figure in Osun State.

Their defection adds to the growing wave of party switches affecting the APC, which has seen several members depart following contentious primary elections and internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
