Tinubu Wins APC Presidential Primary With 10.99 Million Votes, Set for 2027 Re-Election Bid

President Bola Tinubu has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, securing 10,999,162 votes to defeat his only challenger — businessman Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,503 votes.

The result was announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the APC Presidential Primaries Election Committee, former Senate President Pius Anyim, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to Anyim, the direct primary was conducted across all 8,809 wards in Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. A total of 12,643,306 registered party members were eligible, 11,069,756 were accredited, and 11,015,665 cast their votes.

“Mr President, the election has been collated, the results have been computed,” Anyim said. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having satisfied the requirements of APC constitution and guidelines, and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner.”

Osifo’s Performance

While Tinubu dominated all 36 states and the FCT, winning 100% of votes in most, Osifo managed notable scores in a handful of states: 5,248 in Niger, 2,675 in Kano, 1,186 in Lagos, 1,007 in Abia, 929 in Oyo, 779 in Benue, and 768 in Nasarawa.

The APC national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, presented Tinubu with a certificate of return and the party’s flag at the collation centre, formally launching his bid for a second term in 2027.

The Road Ahead

The result is hardly a shock — Tinubu went into the primary with the full weight of the APC machinery behind him. The real test begins now: building a campaign that can sell his second-term agenda to a country grappling with economic hardship and security challenges.

Osifo has since congratulated the president, urging party unity ahead of the general election.
