Tinubu Picks APC Presidential Nomination Forms for 2027 Re-election Bid
President Bola Tinubu officially entered the 2027 race on Monday — or at least, someone did it for him.
James Faleke, the Ikeja federal constituency lawmaker, picked up Tinubu’s ₦100 million APC presidential nomination forms at the party’s Abuja sales centre, becoming the first to do so on the opening day of form sales. APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu handled the handover.
Faleke told reporters the money came from various Tinubu Support Groups spread across the country — not from any single individual. “For all the support groups who have made efforts and contributed money to purchase this form, I have done so on their behalf — and on behalf of all Nigerians,” he said.
“Just as I was privileged to join other leaders in buying the form before the 2023 election, I am once again honoured to do so on behalf of Nigerians for our performing President. By the grace of God, 2027 will be a reality, and he will contest and win.”
Tinubu himself has made no public statement about his re-election plans. But picking the nomination forms is about as close to a formal declaration as it gets — especially when your camp coordinates the move on day one of sales.
Faleke also collected a gubernatorial nomination form for Lagos Deputy Governor Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, suggesting the president’s team is already coordinating endorsements down the ticket. The APC presidential primary is scheduled for May 23, 2026.
