Police in Abia State say they have rescued 10 stolen children and returned them to their families during operations spanning September to November.
Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi announced the recoveries on Friday while presenting the command’s operational report for 11 September to 6 November.
Two suspects arrested over the alleged theft of two of the children have been charged to court, Afolabi said. The children were recovered and handed back to their parents.
The command recorded 211 criminal cases during the reporting period and arrested 109 suspects.
Afolabi said officers also recovered 15 firearms and 30 stolen vehicles across the state.
He also announced arrests in connection with the 17 October attack on Uratta police station. The arrests are a new development in the investigation into that attack.
Afolabi said officers were still seeking other people suspected of involvement in the police station attack and working to establish the circumstances surrounding it.
