The Nigeria Democratic Congress has named Seriake Dickson chairman of its national campaign council for the 2027 elections, with Ibrahim Abdulkarim appointed director-general.

Presidential candidate Peter Obi will serve as co-chairman, while the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is co-vice chairman. The party announced the council in a statement on Sunday night, ahead of its planned inauguration in Abuja on Monday, October 26.

National Chairman Cleopas Zuwoghe was named vice-chairman, and National Secretary Ikenna Enekweizu will serve as council secretary. Premium Times described the council as a 118-member body.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal was listed as chairman of the National Campaign Advisory Council. Channels Television reported that the wider structure included a 40-member advisory council and 37 state campaign coordinators.

Party spokesperson Osa Director was appointed to lead communication and media. Premium Times reported that Ikeddi Isiguzo would serve as his deputy and Constance Ikokwu as campaign spokesperson. Channels Television listed retired Major General John Enenche as Director of Security and Intelligence.

The party said the council would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support. Its stated aim was a people-centred, issue-based campaign.

The inauguration had earlier been moved from October 20 to October 26 because of an overseas engagement involving Obi, as NaijaTrend reported here.
