Nigeria’s Super Falcons beat Comoros 2-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Friday, taking a two-goal advantage into the return leg of their 2028 Olympic qualifying tie.

Michelle Alozie broke the deadlock early in the second half before Uchenna Kanu doubled the lead in the 60th minute. Both teams will meet again at the same Ogun State venue on Tuesday, October 13.

Nigeria had been held goalless at half-time despite creating chances. Channels Television’s live account recorded Rasheedat Ajibade hitting the woodwork in the first half and Comoros keeping out Alozie’s earlier effort.

The breakthrough came after the interval, when Gift Monday knocked the ball down for Alozie to finish. Kanu then converted a corner to give Nigeria the margin they carried through to full-time.

The match was interim coach Augustine Eguavoen’s first in charge of the Super Falcons. Midfielder Joy Igbokwe also made her senior debut, with Ajibade captaining the side.

Comoros were the nominal home team for the first leg, but both matches are being played in Ikenne. Premium Times reported that Comoros do not have a stadium approved for international fixtures.

Channels Television said the winner would face Morocco in the next stage, following the Republic of the Congo’s withdrawal. Premium Times’ Friday match report instead listed either the Democratic Republic of Congo or Morocco as the next opponent. The return leg in Ikenne is scheduled for October 13.
