AAC names campaign council for Sowore–Magashi 2027 bid
The African Action Congress has inaugurated a campaign council for Omoyele Sowore and his running mate, Haruna Magashi, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Abdullahi Usman will lead the council as Director-General, while Juwon Sanyaolu will serve as its secretary. Deputies will oversee strategy and political affairs, and diaspora and resource mobilisation.
The council will coordinate the campaign across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Its structure will extend through state, local government, ward and polling-unit coordinators, supported by volunteers, canvassers and polling agents.
The party announced the inauguration in a statement on Friday signed by Acting National Chairman Samuel Ajeigbe and National Secretary Oshiokhue Ikpeminoghena.
AAC said it had established 10 national directorates. Their responsibilities include strategy and policy, grassroots mobilisation, labour and civil society engagement, publicity, digital media, data and technology, election operations, finance, legal compliance and field administration.
The party said the council would work alongside its SOWORENOW application, which it uses to organise supporters and coordinate campaign activities. It described the council as an expansion of that digital structure rather than a replacement.
AAC said the campaign would combine digital tools with physical organisation to reach voters in cities and rural communities, and called on Nigerians who wanted a different political direction to join it.
