Davido Appointed Head of Youth Mobilisation for Adeleke’s Osun Re-Election Campaign
Afrobeats superstar Davido has been appointed as Head of Youth Mobilisation for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign in Osun State.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is the governor’s nephew. He announced the role on his X page on Tuesday.
“I have been appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and flag bearer of the Accord Party as head of youth mobilisation campaign,” he wrote. “We look forward to a smooth campaign council and your re-election, Your Excellency 4+4.”
Political Track Record
This is not Davido’s first foray into Osun politics. He was named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund months ago, a role aimed at attracting investment into sports development in the state.
In December 2025, Davido joined the Accord Party to align politically with his uncle after leaving the PDP. During the 2022 Osun governorship election, he campaigned heavily for Adeleke, using his platform to spotlight alleged electoral malpractices and pressure INEC.
What This Means
Adeleke is seeking a second term under the Accord Party after leaving the PDP. The August 2026 governorship election is expected to be fiercely contested, and Davido’s massive youth following could prove decisive in mobilizing young voters.
