87-Year-Old Man Arraigned Over Alleged Attack On Adamawa Judge
Adamawa police have arraigned an 87-year-old man, Dahiru Garba, over an alleged cutlass attack on an Area Court judge in Fufore Local Government Area.
The police said Garba allegedly attacked the presiding judge, Dauda Hamman, at Mayo-Ine Area Court on August 31 while the judge was handling a case involving Garba and another man, Ismail Yusuf.
Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje said the judge suffered serious injuries to his hand. Garba was charged with attempted murder before Chief Magistrate Abdullahi Mohammed Digil.
Daily Post reported that the suspect was accused of cutting the judge’s hand and was remanded after the court proceedings. Punch reported the same case and said police arrested the suspect after the incident.
The police account remains an allegation until the court reaches a decision. The reports did not say whether Garba had legal representation or give a date for the next hearing.
