13 Woro Abductees Still Missing After 163 Return
A Kwara community leader says 13 people remain unaccounted for after the return of 163 abducted Woro residents who spent about six months in captivity.
The update comes after NaijaTrend reported the wider rescue of Kwara and Niger victims here. The new concern is the gap between the number the community says was taken and the number now back.
Premium Times reported that Yakubu Salihu, National Chairman of the Kaiama Development Association, said 176 women and children were abducted from Woro on February 3 and that only 163 had been released.
Vanguard also reported Salihu as saying the community records showed 163 victims returned out of 176 abducted residents, leaving 13 people unaccounted for.
Premium Times reported that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the rescued victims were receiving medical care and would return to Kwara for further support after completing medical procedures. The outlet also reported that some of the women gave birth during captivity.
Vanguard reported that the state government was arranging to move the released victims to Ilorin for support and resettlement. Salihu also appealed for urgent rehabilitation of roads linking Kaiama, saying poor roads had become a serious problem for movement in the area.
