Yamal Wants Osimhen at Barcelona as €100m+ Transfer Battle Takes Shape

Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has reportedly told the club he wants Victor Osimhen as his next strike partner at Camp Nou. Spanish publication Fichajes reports that Yamal has made his preference clear to Barcelona’s hierarchy, backing the Nigerian over other targets including Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez.

Yamal believes Osimhen’s pace, strength and movement would stretch opposition defences and open up space for Barcelona’s wide players. The logic is sound: a direct, aggressive number nine gives wingers more room to operate. Osimhen’s game is built on exactly those qualities.

The price problem

Galatasaray are not letting him go cheap. The Turkish champions paid Napoli to make Osimhen’s loan permanent last summer, and reports from Turkish and Spanish media suggest they now want upwards of €100 million. Some outlets put the valuation as high as €150 million. That is double what Galatasaray paid Napoli.

For Barcelona, whose financial fair play constraints are well documented, finding that kind of money requires serious squad surgery. Reports suggest the club is prepared to offload up to five players to fund the deal. Robert Lewandowski’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, and no extension has been signed. If he leaves, the wage bill drops and the number nine shirt opens up.

Not the only suitor

PSG are also circling. Manager Luis Enrique has reportedly softened his stance on Osimhen, and Paris has the financial muscle that Barcelona simply cannot match. Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation too.

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has publicly acknowledged that Osimhen is likely to move this summer, though he stopped short of naming a destination. The 27-year-old scored 26 goals for Galatasaray this season. His track record speaks for itself. Where he ends up is going to come down to who can write the biggest cheque and convince him the project fits.
