Warri-Itakpe Train Derails, Three Dead as Four Coaches Leave Track
Three passengers have died after four coaches of the Warri-Itakpe Train Service derailed on Monday, June 8, in Agbor, Delta State, according to updated reports late Monday.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, initially confirmed the derailment and said emergency response teams and relevant authorities had been deployed to the scene. Later reports said all passengers on board had been accounted for.

NRC Managing Director Kayode Opeifa said the incident involved four coaches leaving the track on the Warri-Itakpe corridor. The corporation said it was monitoring developments and would issue more details as they become available.
Early reports did not give a verified casualty figure, but Channels Television later reported that three passengers were confirmed dead. Naija News, citing a presidency update, also reported that three fatalities had been confirmed and that all passengers had been accounted for.
As of Monday night, the cause of the derailment had not been officially disclosed.
