WAEC has released the 2026 WASSCE results for school candidates, with 1,200,514 candidates obtaining credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

The figure represents 61.54 percent of the 1,950,726 candidates who sat the examination nationwide. WAEC said the examination was held between April and June, while marking took place in July across 88 venues.

Amos Dangut, the head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, announced the results in Lagos on Wednesday. He said 1,834,695 candidates, or 94.05 percent, had their results fully processed and released, while 116,031 candidates were still being processed.

WAEC also said it withheld the results of 167,486 candidates, representing 8.59 percent, over alleged examination malpractice. Daily Post reported Dangut as saying that the figure was lower than the 9.7 percent recorded in 2025.

According to the breakdown, 1,687,378 candidates obtained credits in at least five subjects with or without English Language and Mathematics. Daily Post also reported that 1,959,668 candidates from 24,207 schools enrolled for the examination across Nigeria, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.

Punch reported that candidates were asked to generate a Personal Identification Number and serial number on WAEC’s website before checking their results through the council’s result portal.
