US Immigration and Customs Enforcement

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement has announced plans to deport a Nigerian national, Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, over allegations of visa overstay and a series of criminal offences.

Vanguard reported that Ajayi entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa but remained in the country after leaving school.

ICE said in a post on X that Ajayi had accumulated a lengthy criminal record. His convictions include domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation and obstruction. The agency also linked him to kidnapping, rape and family neglect, but did not disclose the jurisdictions where the offences were committed or clarify the status of the rape and kidnapping allegations.

Premium Times separately confirmed the ICE announcement, reporting that Ajayi would be deported as part of the Donald Trump administration’s efforts to remove undocumented migrants convicted of crimes.

ICE described Ajayi as a criminal illegal alien and said he would be leaving the United States shortly.

Premium Times reported that in 2025, 3,690 Nigerians were among more than 1.4 million foreign nationals with final deportation orders. The US had also planned to deport an initial batch of 85 Nigerians.
