Troops rescue 14 kidnap victims in Katsina operations

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 14 kidnapped victims in Katsina State during operations that also covered parts of Kaduna State, the military said.

Channels TV reported that the victims had been abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki villages in Faskari Local Government Area. They were abandoned by their captors after the gunmen sighted advancing troops, according to the report.

The operations were carried out between September 23 and 25. The military said troops also foiled a terrorist movement in Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where they recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine with 13 rounds of ammunition, a magazine carrier and a military jungle hat.

In another Kaduna operation, troops arrested a suspect identified as Jacob, who was allegedly found with a locally fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition. In Katsina, three suspected terrorist logistics couriers were intercepted on a motorcycle in Faskari with ₦2.7 million suspected to be ransom money and three mobile phones, the military said.

The suspects and recovered items were taken into military custody for further investigation.
