Troops Kill Two Suspected Terrorists, Rescue Three Kidnap Victims In Benue
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have killed two suspected terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims during an operation in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The military said the operation was carried out by Sector 1 troops with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard between July 16 and July 17.
Acting Media Information Officer Ahmad Zubairu said the troops moved from Takum in Taraba State to Tse Togo and Utenge communities across River Yooyo at Orter Camp, where suspected terrorists were believed to be operating.
He said the troops engaged the suspects in a gun battle, killing two while others fled. The rescued victims were named as Nyityo Abraham, a teacher; Uzuegwu Chukwuemeka Decency, a spare parts dealer; and Terhember Tavarshima, a farmer.
The military said troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle with an optic sight, one pistol, 19 AK-47 magazines and other ammunition from the camp.
