Tinubu dissolves federal properties privatisation committee

President Bola Tinubu has dissolved the Presidential Implementation Committee on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties.

The committee handled issues around the sale, lease and privatisation of federal landed assets under the government’s monetisation policy. Its work will now be coordinated by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.

The committee was set up in 2000 during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. It included representatives from federal ministries and the Nigeria Police Force, with other members drawn from public and private sectors.

According to the presidency, the committee’s activities had gone beyond its original mandate and had led to several court cases across the country. Tinubu therefore directed that it be dissolved, with the Attorney-General taking over coordination from November 5, 2025.

The presidency also ordered the committee’s secretary, B. S. Dutsin-Ma, to stop acting in that capacity. The decision moves the handling of federal property matters more directly under the justice ministry.
