Three die in Niger Government House stampede
Three people have died after a stampede at the Niger State Government House in Minna, with several others injured.
The incident happened on Tuesday night when a crowd gathered at the Government House. The injured victims were taken to the General Hospital in Minna for treatment.
The gathering was linked to efforts by government officials to engage youths who were reportedly planning a protest over recent hardship in the state.
Daily Trust reported that at least three people lost their lives and several others were injured. Daily Post also reported three deaths and said the crowd had gathered amid reports that money would be distributed.
The reports did not give the names of the victims or an official casualty list from the Niger State Government at the time of filing.
