Three Chinese Nationals, Others Arrested Over Alleged Illegal Mining In Nasarawa
Security operatives in Nasarawa State have arrested three Chinese nationals and several Nigerian miners over alleged illegal mining in Amba Community, Kokona Local Government Area.
The operation was led by Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe at a mining site where the state said activities continued despite a government order suspending mining.
Authorities said suspected mineral resources were found in cartons, along with equipment believed to have been used at the site. CCTV cameras and other operational materials were also seized.
Akabe said he went to the site to see the situation for himself after repeated reports that illegal mining had continued in the area.
He questioned how foreign nationals without proper legal documents were allowed to mine in the state and said Nasarawa would enforce the law against illegal business activities.
