The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned outage linked to preventive maintenance at the Katampe 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.

Daily Post and Vanguard reported that the maintenance was scheduled for Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said the work would cover the 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer, its auxiliaries and associated switchgear at the substation.

Because of the work, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to take bulk power for distribution to some customers during the maintenance window.

The affected areas listed in the reports include parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado Fish Market, Idu-Karmo and nearby communities.

Mbah said TCN regretted the inconvenience to electricity customers but said equipment maintenance was needed to keep the facilities performing properly.
