The Senate Public Accounts Committee has given Seplat Energy, Network E&P Nigeria Ltd, All Grace Energy Ltd and Aradel Energy 48 hours to appear before it over audit queries linked to Nigeria’s extractive sector reports.
The ultimatum followed the companies’ failure to attend an investigative hearing in Abuja on Tuesday. The committee is examining issues raised in Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative oil and gas audit reports for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Reports said the committee, chaired by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, warned that it could invoke constitutional powers if the firms failed to honour the summons.
The companies were asked to respond to questions tied to the audit reports, which lawmakers said required direct answers from their chief executives or authorised representatives.
Vanguard also reported that Dubri Oil denied alleged royalty and gas flare debts during the hearing, saying it had documents to support its position.
