Sanwo-Olu Orders Manhunt After Lagos Bridge Vandalism

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered a manhunt for those behind the vandalism of a bridge section along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The governor inspected the affected part of the Alakija-Festac Link Bridge at Vin-Niger in Amuwo-Odofin and said early checks showed the bridge remained safe for motorists and residents.

Daily Post reported that vandals excavated parts of the structure and removed fittings used to secure the bridge. Sanwo-Olu said anyone involved in stealing, buying or selling public infrastructure materials would face prosecution.

Vanguard also reported the governor’s inspection and said the bridge links the Ojo axis with Festac Town. It added that the inspection followed a viral video in which a resident raised concern about damage to the bridge.

The Vanguard report separately mentioned another alleged bridge-vandalism incident around Mile 12, but the governor’s inspection focused on the Alakija-Festac Link Bridge at Vin-Niger.
