Reps Committee Says Disputed PFIPC Appointment Letter Was Fake

A House of Representatives ad hoc committee has said the appointment letter presented by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identified himself as director-general of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, was fake.

Committee chairman Yusuf Gagdi announced the finding during Wednesday’s continuation of the probe in Abuja. Channels TV, Punch and Daily Post reported the same committee position.

Gagdi said the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, also told the committee that documents presented by Adeyemi were not authentic.

The committee had earlier directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi after hearing from government offices that distanced themselves from the purported council.

Lawmakers said Adeyemi’s appearance was needed to explain how the body allegedly obtained recognition and moved official correspondence through government offices.
