Radda Urges Katsina Residents Not To Politicise Insecurity

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has urged residents not to turn the state’s security crisis into a partisan fight.

Radda made the appeal during the 2026 Yaumul Shukur, the annual thanksgiving event marking the 1934 merger of the former Katsina and Daura provinces. Daily Trust and Daily Post both reported that he called for prayers, unity and stronger public support for security agencies.

The governor said insecurity was a shared challenge and warned politicians and other stakeholders against using the death of residents for political gain. Daily Post quoted him as saying, “No one should use the death of innocent people to pursue political interests. Human life is sacred, and security must remain our collective priority.”

Radda said his administration had recruited, trained and equipped the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to support the military, police and other conventional security agencies. He also commended joint operations which, according to the reports, led to the killing of more than 40 suspected bandits, including a notorious kingpin.

The Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar, also urged residents to preserve the unity and brotherhood inherited from Katsina and Daura’s founding leaders.
