Police Rescue Two Abducted Children, Arrest Four Suspects In Oyo
The Oyo State Police Command says it has rescued two abducted children and arrested four suspected kidnappers after an operation in Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
Punch, Channels TV and Premium Times reported that the case followed an attack on Ebinpejo Village, via Lanlate, where armed hoodlums allegedly assaulted residents and abducted two children.
The reports said police operatives, Amotekun Corps members, local vigilantes and hunters traced the suspects to a forest hideout after the abduction.
Punch reported that the suspects include Umaru Usman, Abdullahi Ahmed, Sunday Idowu and Muhammed Ibrahim Shina.
Police said the children were rescued alive, taken for medical attention and reunited with their family. One of the children reportedly sustained injuries during the ordeal.
Channels TV reported that the command also recovered firearms linked to a separate armed robbery syndicate during related operations.
Premium Times reported that the arrested suspects gave conflicting accounts of their involvement, with each attempting to shift responsibility after the rescue operation.
