Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims In Kaduna

Three kidnapped victims have been rescued in Kaduna State after police and local vigilantes raided a suspected bandits’ hideout in Makarfi Local Government Area.

The operation took place around Gidan Mijin Gwaggo, Durum, after police said they received intelligence on suspicious movements in the area on August 21. The victims included Alhaji Hamza Shuaibu-Gimi and two others, according to the state police command.

Police said the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, directed the Makarfi Divisional Police Officer to lead the patrol team with local vigilantes. The team reportedly came under fire when it reached the area, returned fire, and forced the suspected kidnappers to flee into nearby bushes.

A search of a house belonging to Yakubu Sule led to the rescue of the three victims. Police also said a Boxer motorcycle suspected to have been used by the kidnappers was recovered from the premises.

The command said the rescued victims were unharmed and had been reunited with their families. It added that officers were still searching for the fleeing suspects, some of whom were believed to have sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange.
