Police Rescue 32 Kidnap Victims, Foil Bandit Operation In Sokoto
Police and military teams have rescued 32 kidnap victims after a gun battle with bandits in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The Sokoto State Police Command said the operation took place on Tuesday in Maikujera village, a community near the Zamfara border, after officers received information that armed bandits had invaded the area.
According to the command, the attackers were moving with rustled livestock and abducted victims while shooting at residents. Police tactical units, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Violent Crime Reaction Unit, worked with soldiers from a nearby forward operating base to block escape routes.
The command said the security teams forced the attackers to abandon the victims and livestock before fleeing into the forest. Punch and Daily Post both reported the rescue and the police account of the operation.
