The Ekiti State Police Command says worshippers abducted from a Christ Apostolic Church crusade at Eda-Oniyo in Ilejemeje Local Government Area have been rescued, more than two months after the April attack.

Daily Post and Daily Trust reported that 14 worshippers regained freedom while one of the abducted victims died in captivity. NaijaTrend had earlier reported the April church attack here.

Vanguard and Punch, citing a statement by police spokesperson SP Sunday Abutu, said the rescue followed sustained intelligence-led operations involving the police, military, other security agencies, Amotekun, local hunters and the Ekiti State Government.

The police said the rescued worshippers had been taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment. Commissioner of Police Falade Adegoroye commended the security teams and residents who provided information, while saying efforts were continuing to arrest those behind the abduction.
