Police Recover Stolen Newborn Baby In Benue
Police in Benue State have recovered a newborn baby boy allegedly stolen shortly after delivery at the Divisional Hospital in Gboko.
The baby has been reunited with his mother at Police A Division in Gboko, according to the state police spokesperson, Peter Aondongu.
Police said several suspects had been arrested in connection with the case. Some were held in Gboko while others were taken to the state command headquarters in Makurdi, but the command had not yet given a final number of arrests.
The baby was allegedly taken in the early hours of Tuesday after a woman disguised as a nurse collected him from his mother for supposed further care after delivery.
Residents said the baby was recovered on Wednesday night after a police operation in the Adekaa area of Gboko. Police said more details would be released as the investigation continues.
