The Oyo State Police Command says a personal assistant attached to a member of Adebayo Adelabu’s family helped the gang that abducted the former minister’s sister and her twin sons by supplying inside information about the household.

Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade said on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief that the insider angle emerged from ongoing investigations into the June 3 kidnapping of Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons in Ibadan.

Police say rescue exposed wider network

According to the command, the rescue operation that freed the victims also led to the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers and the arrest of other suspects, opening what police described as a major intelligence window into a wider kidnapping syndicate operating in Oyo State.

Focus shifts to the investigation

Police had earlier said the victims were rescued through a coordinated intelligence-led operation involving the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team and tactical units in the state. Investigators are now working to identify and arrest other members of the network still at large.
