Police Kill Three Suspected Kidnappers After Ogun Students’ Rescue
Police say three suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of Gateway ICT Polytechnic students in Ogun State have been killed in a gun battle with security operatives.
The development follows the rescue of the students, which NaijaTrend earlier reported here.
Force Public Relations Officer Ani Iniedu said the police anti-kidnapping unit and operatives of the Department of State Services tracked the suspects to their hideout after the victims were freed unhurt.
The security team engaged the suspects in a gun duel. Three were killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds, according to the police account carried by both reports.
Police said operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, three mobile phones and N2.3 million during the operation. The State Criminal Investigation Department has started further investigation.
